The Order of the Servants of Mary, or Servites, began in Italy in the 13th century by seven rich men of Florence. Their charism was to meditate on the Dolors of the most Holy Virgin, and to feel and share them with her, as well as to propagate this devotion among the faithful. This mission was given by Mary herself to the Seven Holy Founders in an apparition on Good Friday, wherein she gave them their habit, and commanded them to found a new Order, consecrated to the cult of her Dolors. At Kibeho, Rwanda Our Lady told the visionaries that she wanted the special Servite Rosary to be propagated in our times. This Seven Sorrows Rosary will be regarded as part of the OMD habit, and prayed with the Flame of Love “Hail Mary” that gives a special indulgence for the Holy Souls. Please make it part of your Lenten practice to pray every Hail Mary in the way She asked because it’s one of the OMD charisms to intercede for the Holy Souls.
