Holy Card: LaSalette Great News

LaSalette seers with children. Artist unknown. Violet background Quotation from Melanie’s description of the Virgin’s beauty. Text on back of card: “These soft and sweet words made me fly close to her, and my heart would have wished to attach itself to her forev-er. When I was up close to the beautiful Lady, in front of her to her right, She began to speak. From her beautiful eyes tears started to flow, and She continued to weep all the time that She spoke: ‘If my people do not wish to submit themselves, I will be compelled to let go of the hand of my Son. It is so heavy and weighs me down so much I can no longer keep hold of it . . . If I do not wish my Son to abandon you, I must take it upon myself to entreat Him ceaselessly.’ ” The children’s testimony was believed and soon approved by their bishop, but the bulk of the message they said was for another century, a “latter time.”

Holy Card: Weeping-Mother

Prayer for All who Hold Positions of Authority: Heavenly Father, enlighten and strengthen all who are entrusted with responsibility for the spiritual, temporal and moral welfare of other persons. Teach them how to exercise power for the benefit and pro-tection of those under their care. May they enjoy your paternal wisdom and support, because all authority is a par-ticipation in your own. Deliver them from subtle temptations to use their positions to serve themselves, forget-ting your own authority over them. May they be assisted with the prayers of the Mother of God, who showed such concern at LaSalette for leaders of families, churches and nations. Amen.

Holy Card: LaSalette-Cross Like Mine

“All the members will wear a Cross like mine.” [Rule of Mary #33]
During the apparition of LaSalette, the children described Mary’s crucifix as all golden. The Christ was alive. The hammer teaches that God suffers when we sin, as if driving in the nails, but the pliers of our repentance and good deeds take away his pain and give Him joy! Mary predicted a time of suffering and persecu-tion for the Church, during which her new religious Order of the Mother of God would rise up to strengthen Christians and guide them into a beautiful time when Mary will triumph, Jesus will reign in hearts, and the “meek will inherit the earth” [cf Ps 27, Mt 5:5, Isa 11, Ps 147, Ps 149]. The Order will help lead entire nations to the Catholic faith, and call every Christian to strive for perfection (with Mary as model) according to their state of life. The Rule of Mary regards lay members as an integral part of the charism, besides consecrated priests, Brothers and Sisters.

Holy Card: Our Lady of the Precious Blood

“Our Lady of the Precious Blood.” Original design by Sister Misericordia © 2015 Benedictines of Mary Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory: My Lady Mother Mary, you stood near the Cross to receive the Precious Blood of your Son for the salvation of all mankind. Intercede with Him now that He may refresh the souls in purgatory with his life-giving Blood, cleansing them of the stains of sin of which they repented in mind but failed to give evidence with their works, as did the sinner Zaccheus who endeavored to make restitution when the Lord brought him the gift of forgiveness. Help me to persevere in prayer with you, who did not lose hope at the tomb, but trusted in the promise of Resurrection. Eternal rest grant to them O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
